I've removed all Meta apps other than Whatsapp (and I don't love that). I haven't had the Facebook app on my phone in well over a decade. Had Instagram for a while, I was casually active on it, but Meta just keeps convincing

Nothing good has an open software stack. There are some brands (eg: Axis, Bosch, Hanwha), that support 3rd party apps that can run on the camera and perform various tasks, including AI applications. Any product that would fall under the goo

I agree they have to start somewhere, and they are definitely starting. But we are also nowhere near the prevalence of these robots that the linked article implies.

This is not going to happen any time soon. The acquisition cost and ongoing maintenance issues alone limit the practical market of home robots to a tiny segment of the market. As neat as the idea sounds, the practicalities and edge cases ke

I’m not disagreeing with this, but early (like very early 1900’s) Ford vehicles had a little brass plaque with the serial number and some wording that if you misused the vehicle Ford could force you to forfeit it back to them. This concept

Depends on the implementation. Most times you just have to click it a few times in a row. The receiver then realizes it missed a few button presses and it re-syncs. I’m not sure what that window is though, at some point it might get so out

At this point a firing or layoff might as well just be a text message: "You're fired. K, thx, bye". Any words beyond that are just fluff anyway. To the person getting let go, it really doesn't matter if the decision caus

You're looking for the SMTP VRFY and EXPN commands. However implementation is very hit-or-miss. In the good ole' days of the internet, VRFY was widely implemented. Then spammers realized they could connect to a mailserver and do a

I think their gambit has more been "power", being battery packs, chargers, cables, etc. They are technically not a battery tech company, they assemble 3rd party batteries into consumer products.

Anker should know better by this point. Changing specs without notifying customers is the basic formula of every Chinese manufacturer. They must have gotten lazy with their internal QA/QC processes and random sampling.

It's been ~15 years since I did much with 78xx's, but I seem to recall the various package types were all pretty much the same on thermal coefficients, and other related specs. It's a decades-old design that has been pretty w

7805's are linear regulators, they drop excess voltage as heat. Using a 2A rated 7805 won't make it run less hot, the heat output is the delta between input and output voltages.

That sounds suspicious. Gait recognition is extremely difficult to do with any accuracy even with high resolution video in semi-controlled environments. Doing with with opportunistic 5G signals sounds far fetched.

Yes, but on a limited budget solar may not always be the best option to some kind of energy independence. It really depends on what you are trying to solve for. Solar alone won't carry loads at night, the panels are generally not porta

There is a ton of DIY solar info online, but it is very much regionally dependent. Both for permits and system design. Here in Florida, I can get high output from an average panel, but there are a lot of permit issues (and rightly so, a poo
