Re-waste the time you wasted in your teens then re-regret what you didn't become because you failed to ignore distractions!!!

I stopped interviewing about 4 months ago because this, in my experience, is NOT hyperbole. Also, 80% of job descriptions, threw kubernetes into the requirements on top of 10 other competencies seemingly just because they can.

But I often think surely there must be some viable economic model in which a data center is built in some remote area with plentiful hydroelectric or geothermal power that would largely go unharnessed, and that cheap source of power makes b

So they will hire a team of government employees to set up a mastadon server over the course of a year, then add some staff to maintain it and some more for public outreach to make everyone aware this is their new channel, at what cost? Ver

Some might even say that an analysis of the compositions by those who took up music writing after the advent of Garageband etc. proves the harm of such tools.

The emotional steering pattern always gives me a chuckle... Choose between: ->Yes, send me the newsletter informing me of your latest charitable initiatives. ->No, I don't care about starving children.

I'll add a second identical anecdote. I've witnessed about a dozen die after about doing about 1/10th their promised duty.

I remember learning that there exists (though I can't remember the actual phrase) a very short 2 or 3 character phrase in Chinese which was used to reprimand someone for doing harm to China's image by speaking negatively about it

I can't decide if this is a humble brag or very backhanded compliment. Either way, the message is clear... Europeans are naturally endowed with taste and sophistication! :-o

Don't have to worry about theft?! Wow, Europe must be so different than North America. I'm much more worried about my biker being stolen (has happened about a dozen times in my life) than my car. If the former happens you get abso

Surely a newer modestly sized hybrid SUV burns far less fuel than a 30 year old sedan. So what's the idea then? Let's vandalize vehicles in the upper 20% of fuel consumption? Why are pick up trucks not top of the list?

I'm taken aback at this. I don't have an SUV but I very much aspire to, specifically for one of the reasons they mention - high clearance. I do as much mountain hiking as I can and high clearance is necessary for many forest servi

Not sure I would describe a multi decade history exploring the transition from feudalism to capitalism as "hyper focused", or niche for that matter.

The thing I'm sort of confused about, but maybe someone can explain why I shouldn't be, is, why does there seem to be no implication for language translation? Or is there but coverage is overwhelmed by the fascination with chatGPT

If you can retire as a rash reaction to being asked to be physically present for work, cardboard box threat notwithstanding, then you are way overpaid (assuming you are under 60).

Yes, this is why I thought the idea of "of course there are 10x developers because there are 10x [other categories]" was not a very useful statement. There are many dimensions to this assertion. In what way is a 10x developer 10x?
