I think talking about spending cuts and balancing the budget were pretty common not too long ago. It was a big part of Paul Ryan's speaker-ship.[0] Republicans (and some democrats) have used "balancing the budget" rhetoric, t

How would elevation affect trip times? Is there a reason a subway would be faster than a raised platform? I am not an expert but I don't see how digging tunnels is cheaper than building a raised platform, they both seem pretty expensiv

I think the point was even if you disable JS in your browser to be "safe," there's the possibility of some nasty CSS on the page as well. Turning off JS does not make you safe.

I'd argue this is a consequence of a lack of competition. Since there's no where else for you to go, what incentive do they have to fix search? Devs may complain a bit, but Apple still controls enough of the phone market that peop

I like this analogy, but there are some pretty big differences between a supermarket and the app store. The "aisle" on the app store goes on for miles. Sure the product may be there, but if it's a 5-10 minute walk down the ai

If you work 40+ hours a week you should be payed enough to support yourself and a child and live in or very nearby the city in which you work. This is not how the minimum wage works currently. This is not all Uber/Lyft's feet, it&

I understand your point that is a trade-off. I think a lot of my issue with google is that the trade off is not presented in a clear way. You make it sound like a clear and simple transaction: I give Google my location, they give me relevan

The idea (urban myth?) I've heard for discussion's sake: The long term bet is on them becoming THE way to get around and monopolizing the market (or a chunk of it at least) and THEN jacking up prices. If you undercut cabs and publ

It's possible to pay out an unfairly low wage with money you don't have. I'm not saying that's the case with Lyft, but just because you're operating at a loss doesn't mean you're paying people fairly for t
