You have to read the Google post in its entirety and the context; in this case, the Engadget article was about the different business models of Amazon/Google as compared to Apple, and how they hope to profit not from the hardware but from c

We may never find out because Amazon never reveals how many Kindles it sold or whether it really is making money from Kindle, and the whole "financial industry" is complicit in this crime in cheating the naive investor.

That g+ post is particularly bad because it shows that Linus is opinionated (we knew that already), that he doesn't understand business (predatory pricing) and that he doesn't read very well (the Engadget article clearly explains that in th

It's overblown because if Apple were really upset at Samsung they wouldn't be supplying parts for iPhone 5. Remember, according to court filings Apple approached Samsung first to try to settle it before resorting to legal means.

Micro USB can't do everything the new connector can e.g. digital out. The iPhone 5 is not all-new, despite the protestations in the launch video. It looks like a mid-season 3-series with a new spoiler stuck on it and a stretched wheel

My main problem is being unable to access Amazon's content outside of North America and I'm not prepared to jump through hoops just to get them. In this regard Apple is way ahead of the curve here.

The icon layout was also in the Newton MessagePad, which pre-dated Windows CE. Rounded corners by themselves are not what made the case; it's that rounded corners, having the same grid layout, same connectors, same screen-edge "rubber band

This trial is about Apple vs Samsung, not the patent system. Samsung filed counter-claims against Apple too. So I don't quite understand what you mean by the jury being biased.

I'm not sure if you've tried OS X but it seems to me this feature is similar to the Dashboard which is a screen where widgets like weather, stock info etc are displayed. Activation is just a two finger swipe on the trackpad.

Apple is propping up the NASDAQ and S&P500. Apple's iPhone revenue alone generates more than all of Microsoft's various business units combined. I'd say that's a pretty good way of losing its shine.

Disagree. Competitors like WhatsApp with greater cross-platform reach, on top of the repeated worldwide BBM outages in recent years contributed to RIM's woes, to the extent that having a BB now is considered a burden.

No... read the quote again. "The ONLY reason you would buy one of these is because you can't afford a 911..." He has it backwards. The only reason why the Boxster/Cayman is crippled as compared to the 911 is because the Porsche 911 "fans

And that is why Jeremy Clarkson's reviews should not be the final arbiter of what constitutes a "good" car. The Boxster/Cayman has been consistently judged to be a better driver's car than the 911 because the engine is mounted in the right

That's incorrect. The text is in the public domain but it is still covered by copyright. The copyright is not enforced outside the UK at this time. It is not pedantry; one cannot claim to have written the KJV version. A work that has passed

The words are not in the "public domain"... you can't make a wholesale, verbatim copy of the King James Bible and call it the "hammersend Bible" because of copyright law. You may quote relevant passages from it though; this is well-establis

I respectfully disagree. There is also lock-in from Amazon because most people will have no clue how to remove the DRM on the Kindle titles and move them to another e-reader should they decide to do so. So the parent comment is valid.

The paper presents the case that HFT as it is practiced right now is bad due to regulations. But we do not know if tweaking the regulations is the "right" move. Could be a case of "out of the frying pan and into the fire".
