as an archivist 3-2-2-1 is better. The second 2 indicates that the two backups should be on two different brands of media in case of a catastrophic design flaw.

it can, using plugins. i.e. i use schema.org's things as fileClasses, which are enforced using a metadata schema for attributes which are extensible and excludable. My ontology is based on FRBRoo and I have link visualization for ease

try either the Influx or Strange New World plugins for #1, depending on how you have your vault set up (either mostly daily notes or not respectively)

I've never heard it described as slow, except in cases of purposefully stress teasing (vaults with 100,000+ notes). I've got nearly 10k and it works great on a 10yo laptop.

there's a plugin for folding persistence.. it has a silly name like pants or ironing or something but it works welll

Excalidraw works pretty well in obsidian. I didn't like it the first time but I'm increasingly getting used to it

Obsidian has made so much of my PhD process easier and smoother, and I've increasingly depended on it in real life as well. Amazing team but absolutely stellar community of passionate and kind people. Bravo!
