He didn't do this for the money... I've been offered minor cash gifts for significant volunteer work that I've done previously, and it's usually sort of offensive - nowhere near large enough to compensate for my time, an

That curve fitting seems a bit off in the middle and at the tail. What does the log plot show? Log-log plot? That will nail down a power law or exponential law if there is one.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but your use of virtual currency strikes me as an attempt to later coin your own currency to "buy" other peoples' goods for free. It doesn't bode well for trust, in any case...

Air is a fluid, too. It's also got a lower viscosity than say, water, so it will create less resistance. Saying it stores a lot more energy when it moves is like saying that we should make our train cars heavier so that we can recover more

Lipitor was most likely discovered by screening a library of billions of compounds for ones with some bioactivity. Then, by putting these compounds through more refined screenings, they have a bunch of candidate compounds. Then, these candi

Oops, I misinterpreted how the graph was generated... but the complaint still holds. The averaging of a million trials will cut the amplitude of the fluctuations by a factor of 1000, but the sqrt(N) effect should still be visible. (Note tha

Uh... Something's fishy with the first graph of the 'drunken man's walk'. It's well known that the random walk veers away from the zero-line at a rate sqrt(N), where N is number of flips. Normalized by the number of flips, the random walk
