iHeart, at least on Android, will download (using precious cell bandwidth) video ads and play them, during which time it disables the "back" button. You're forced to let the ad play. You can still switch to another app whil

As an American, I think those cobbled streets are one of the most charming things about Berlin. IIRC, many of the sidewalks are of some stone-like construction as well, quite a delightful change from the flat, poured concrete that I have t

I am reminded of H.D. Thoreau's essay "Life Without Principle"[1] where he has plenty to say about the ill effects, to the mind and soul, of filling one's head with ordinary news and other trivia. I believe that the min

Avista Utilities, here in Washington state, is offering community solar in a nice, self-contained package. You lease a panel in their solar farm, they install and maintain it, and you get a credit on your electric bill for whatever it gene

Another part of that trend that I've noticed of late is people calling piss "pee" and shit "poo" or "poop". Just like you did when you were a 2-year-old and Mommy said you had "poo poo diapers"

I'd love to read that. I've also been curious about how the Indian Recruiter industry works. I get far more of their spam than that from any other source. I remember at one point they were adopting hilariously over-the-top Brit

Hell, a cop executed one of my Dad's old cats one night here in this small town. He allegedly thought it looked "rabid" (it was just ancient, maybe drooling, very, very slow-moving). Call animal control? Call a vet? To he

I agree with you about the feeling of danger , as related to speed, that you get on a bicycle vs a motorcycle. There's a very long, fairly steep hill near here that I bike ever so often, and on the coast down I make it a point to not

House? You're lucky to have a house. We used to live in one room, all twenty-six of us, no furniture, half the floor was missing, and we were all huddled together in one corner for fear of falling.
