Everyone who cares about C already knows Microsoft's position on C99, as well as the bullshit recommendation of compiling C code as C++. And even if they did a complete about-face I doubt many would forgive them for being single-handedly re

You don't hear complaints because no one is going to find a bug caused by weak memory ordering without already knowing about memory reordering. In real buggy code, failures are so rare that most developers will never personally see a fail

Only the most expensive PowerMacs had multiprocessors; iMacs, PowerBooks, and iBooks vastly outnumbered those with top-end PowerMacs. Which also meant there wan't much point in writing heavily threaded programs unless specifically targeting

That anti-excuse reminds me of one of the recent cases where Paypal screwed over a business for using the "Donate" button, because it should be obvious that only registered 501(c) organizations are allowed to use said button.

Yes, it's not really possible with current products. But part of the point is that we should strive to make it possible; the original 6-button Apple remote should be the minimum and every additional button needs a significant justification

Well, the fact that x86 encoding is suboptimal is also a dead debate. If AMD had had the resources of Intel, or if Intel hadn't botched IA-64 so badly and actually licensed it to AMD, x86-64 would have better instruction encoding, no questi
