To be fair there are quite a few millennials for whom loss of beloved parents and grandparents to an avoidable cause would be something of a downside too...

Great real world example. IMO it's a really powerful "language pattern". Another example: "Boris Johnson is a woefully inadequate Prime Minister but he was kind of funny 20 years ago on Have I Got News For You". It&

It could well be! Reading it properly again for the first time in literally around 30 years I'm astonished at how much I've taken its messages to heart in my 20+ year career. To this day I have a downright visceral reaction agains

It's "cool" to move fast, break things. It's less cool to tread carefully and do due diligence. People love to use folksy stories to justify the former (the one about the monkeys for example - https://workingo

My new Pixel 4 arrived literally yesterday, such timing :-) In fairness I picked it as a great "carry-around camera" with a phone attached and it looks like it might work well in that regard, photo quality is very good from first

Yes! There are people you can send a numbered list of questions - 5, even 10 - and get a structured, definitive response from them in return, and your task is done. And there are people you just can't collaborate with in that way - you

Hadn't thought about this before - but you're spot on, some serious investment in innovating in this area could massively improve the whole remote working experience. Here's hoping!

My take on this - the guy's not boasting about accomplishments here, just trying to reassure some young people who will be feeling pretty anxious about their future. Why the hostility?

If "standing out" is your goal, sorry but generic boilerplate platitudes is not the way to go. I reckon the problem is this vague notion that exists about what "professional" looks like - slick, smooth, bland, and relent

Sounds like we are in agreement. And yes there's a world of difference between world-class TV drama and the dross that fills much of the airwaves that frankly perhaps should come with some sort of health warning...
