I agree, I cannot recommend it highly enough. I first read it in my early 20s, then late 20s, and again in my 30s. And every single time I find something new in it. I am long overdue my first 40s re-read, which will now of course carry som

Not universally true. Just find a manager who values successful delivery of project goals and is fine with "boring" i.e. tried-and-tested technology. I blame Career-Driven Development for a lot of "shiny toy" (i.e. fai

Agree. Mocking is a slippery slope I think. We need to mock, for example, DownstreamAPI01 that our app POSTS to and GETs from, so we can put in accurate and realistic faked responses. We don't strictly need to mock other bits of our

There are entirely separate communities IMO when it comes to automated tests. There are the pushing-the-edge-of-excellence folks, constantly refining methods and approaches, who tend to be passionate about the holistic benefits of testing.

Only because it's legally necessary. If it wasn't, companies would be nowhere near so well behaved. Not complaining of course, this form of better behaviour is hugely preferable! But I think it's fear/loss-aversion, not

Also closer to absorbing the state. I'm not a tin foil hat person, but corporations growing larger than nation states just doesn't seem remotely far fetched. Which corporation will be first to sit at the UN table?

I think a lot of people elsewhere in this thread are confusing a simple majority of the whole population, with a large minority which obviously does care enough about audio but is nevertheless a minority. 25% of US adults, say, spending

While I love Java for backend, API, DB integration, and a bunch of other stuff, it's not a full stack technology. What's your web front end going to be? Do you have something in mind which can make clean calls to a Java backend?
