I was just talking about mobile ads yesterday saying they feel like they're designed to trick me into clicking them. This article confirms my suspicions :-/

1) If you aren't going to be sincere, don't apologize. 2) If your expectations aren't being met, ask for what is missing. Don't come out as an antagonist belittling the author. Thatnk you for your consideration.

It's attitudes like this that make HN comments so dismal. Ugh. This is an interesting tool, developed by a group of people doing interesting things, and it's been shared with the world for others to use and/or improve on. While I'm personal

If you use memes on HN, you're going to have a bad time. (They tend to be downvoted to oblivion, 'round these parts.)

Are you saying that having an appropriate domain name is no longer relevant because the simple fact that Google is aware of a site, people (read: potential customers) have a likely chance of finding it? Domain names containing relevant keyw

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the heavy usage of Bootstrap that's been going on lately. Bootstrap not only makes it simple to visualize the construction of a page, but their documentation is really easy to understand (while HTML's documentatio

Yo dawg, I heard you like discussing HN posts. So I made a HN post to discuss 4chan's post discussing HN posts.

Not necessarily. Most of those things are iframes, so technically it's FB linking back to FB.

This x 1000. I share the same co-working space with WP Engine, and couldn't be more impressed with their service and their team. Kudos, WPE.

I'll quote ricardobeat's comment above ( http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4284877 ): "Not every, but 95% do. For the rest, there are other pssibilities and tools to make sense of it (microdata, ARIA attributes, etc). Just ignoring semant

Exactly this. And for the 5% that doesn't work, that's what <div>s are for!

With that logic, HTML is feature complete and no longer requires anymore upgrades, as we can just use <div>s to our hearts' content. Semantic HTML makes the web a better, more consistently understandable, place.

I can totally see something like this being used as a tool to teach designers how to code. Design something > run it through some secret sauce > output HTML/CSS + provide explanations/advice/best-practices/etc.

@dmix: Totally feel you on "organic HTML". Yes, Photoshop is a fabulous tool for making graphics, and playing with ideas... but something about handwritten code feels really good.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've been wanting to try out a number of pre-processors, but I haven't figured out a way to be able to edit it live (which REALLY speeds up development). However, I'll definitely give SMACSS another (more thoroug

As a designer, I've never "implemented" in Photoshop. Ever. Illustrator, yes (a long time ago), but there's nothin' like coding your own design. In fact, I design entirely with HTML/CSS (using the Live CSS Editor feature of the Web Develo

This makes me happy! Back when I was learning how to code my own HTML/CSS, I really could've used something like this to help understand how HTML/CSS works together. Being able to edit tags is a great feature :-)

As a visual designer who has learned to code, I feel that this is not a good idea for the simple fact that it outputs non-semantic HTML (divs are not semantic HTML) and CSS "class soup". I am all for getting more designers to output code (t

While I'm totally stoked for seeing this concept come to fruition, these are the worst reward tiers I've ever seen on a Kickstarter campaign. The $5 minimum should be $10 or $15, and there needs to be a tier between this one at the $50 ti

If you want to eventually learn web programming, pick up a language like Python (well documented, mature language). It seem, though, as you don't see yourself walking down that path. In that case, learn PHP. it'll get you what you need to g

Totally agree. When I read "not complaining", it conjures images of complaining. Rather, a stronger focus on "commending" "applauding" would be apropos.
