As someone who's only had C++98 experience in a code base that leaned more towards a Java style, are there some good guides or books on a more modern C++ style?

Case mapping and case folding are independent of normalization (in practice and it is the case here, see the end of SpecialCasing.txt) There is a good Unicode FAQ on the topic: < http://unicode.org/faq/casemap_charpr

It's more annoying because when you type a non-noun there is a higher chance that it gets mistakenly autocorrected to something capitalised (as every noun in German is capitalised versus only proper nouns in most other languages). I ha

The source of this table is probably a legal review of the different exam requirements rather than accident rates and reputation.

Personally I don't like the C# nullable types as they are right now. I would prefer them to be just a library type instead of a language construct. With the language construct there seems to be no way to use fmap/bind (Select/

The first link of your parent should've been https://mathworld.wolfram.com/Erfi.html They were arguing that the antiderivative F of f: x ↦ exp( x ²) is not elementary, whereas f itself is elementary. But both

It does not and actually assumes locale-dependent separators (usually semicolons if your locale uses a comma as a decimal separator and comma otherwise). If you want to specify separators you have to go via Text Import.

No problem. Yes this is for future events where we want to coordinate people at a certain place. For recording when something happened use UTC or UTC plus fixed offset. Do you have a third context of using time?

I think whether UTC or wall clock time is binding is a problem in the legal and planning (so the business) domain and has to be treated as an external input to the software engineering problem. Although you are of course free to advocate fo

Offset timezones (e.g. UTC+2) don't change, what changes are local timezones (e.g. Europe/Rome). For example here Turkey decided to change daylight savings time: https://github.com/JodaOrg/joda-time/issue

Actually UTC + timezone is exactly the wrong thing for "wall clock times" (things like meetings or departures where the time at the location is relevant). The conversion to UTC will lose the original local time so you cannot retri

I'm not sure whether it's the point of it, but since the LINQ syntax is essentially just do-notation (extended by things like join, group and order) it certainly allows for usages in other monadic contexts, for example with parser

Interesting, though the thing in the article is still a targeted attack. You will not remember the fingerprint of the guy unlocking his phone next to you. But I agree that ML scale attacks can definitely change what I wrote in the future. T

It seems a bit harsh to me as well but since you read the "fingerprints are just user names" mantra way too often on Hacker News, maybe the author of the comment thought it was time to become a bit louder. Here's my take on i

German electricity and phone companies can definitely cut you off for not paying. Don't know about water, but I imagine it's similar. What they can't do is deny you a contract in the first place. (Kontrahierungszwang – obliga

No it does not. I bought high-index glasses (I am 5 diopter myopic + 1 diopter of astigmatism and I chose the highest index they had, 1.6 or 1.7) and a classic frame (round) and paid a bit less than 500 Euro. This was 2 years ago in Bavaria

I don’t think that’s true. Marginal utility can explain the directional component but not the reference point component. Let’s take the example from the comment above. A car salesman gets $100 in the morning and has to give it back in the e
