Oh man, you want to see what a difference lane markings make? Take a drive on a rainy night to Grants Pass Oregon from Crescent City CA on hwy 199. In CA the lanes light up like a Christmas tree. The moment you cross into OR the lane lines

Personally, I like to keep looking for the thing long after I've found it simply to prove the adage wrong. My keys weren't in the last place I looked because I checked three more places after I had them in my hand.

If that's your threat model, don't carry ANY phone. Probably best not to carry any modern electronic device at all.

This is how my wife got her most recent job. The hire was all but signed off on but HR required the posting be made company wide. They didn't have a requirement for how long the posting had to be open. She coordinated with the hiring m

I’ve given Transit App a few tries on various visits to New York. I always end up back at Citymapper. For me, it works so much better.

I typically activate airplane mode twice and have it fail. Remember the automation, go deactivate the automation and then airplane mode works. On actual airplanes, I’m more likely to simply power off my phone.

You should start a business selling those locked down phones to parents because 99% of them have never heard of Lineage OS. Half who have heard of it wouldn't know how to begin installing it and locking it down.

I'm Mid-GenX. I didn't have a cordless landline phone until after college. I got my first dumb phone when I was 25 or 26. Now get off my lawn. :)

OP's rate of usage equates to using 2.4 gallons in about 23 hours. Assuming you are only using yours during the few hours a day the sunroom is occupied, several days sounds about right.

I used to buy $200 Android phones. I never had one last more than 18 months. I'm talking dead, not just annoyingly slow. I now have a 3.5 year old iPhone that I expect to get at least another 1.5 years out of. $200/yr compared to

I had one of those deals for 3 phones. I was paying $272 a month all in. Once I paid off the phones, I switched to an MVNO on the same carrier. I get the same level of service for $105 per month. My "free" phones cost me $168 x 24

There are towns in rural Italy where you can buy a house for €1 if you promise the fix it up and live there. Still there are few takers. It’s a tough problem to solve.

Didn't the Supreme Court basically say recently that the FCC and similar Executive Branch groups can't enforce such rules? They must come from the Legislature to have any hope of surviving review.

I bought a bunch of zigbee light switches years ago. A couple of them have failed and I replaced them with dumb switches. For my use case I found I was rarely using them as anything other than dumb switches anyway.
