My friend who lives far away has an iPhone. I have a mac, we use it all the time. I actually hate using Skype because some clown has my username. We use Skype at work, but I never get entrenched in a service if I don't get my username.

I totally agree. The control panel on Rack Space has kept me from ever recommending them. I love the Slicehost management panel. I also love the Linode panel. I do not love the Rack Space cp.

In addition to using those guides on my slice, I used them to help setup my friends under-desk server, my linode, and several EC2 instances. I love those guides.

I don't think anyone is saying it's that much different. To me, that's what makes it suspicious. Sense, MotoBlur, & TouchWiz all fragment the android platform, break/change certain view widgets, and lag behind the major release. If y

While I understand this question, I think it is a bit of a trick. I think it would make more sense to ask them to convert 1.25% to a decimal, or any percentage that did not have leading zeros.

Did anyone else notice that the "sensors" section doesn't list anything for the 3g version? Is this an oversight or is it correct?

I can say that it has led to at least one lost sale of an iPad. I was getting ready - essentially money-in-hand - to buy an iPad. I will no longer be doing that. From a purely consumer perspective I don't believe this policy benefits me

Short answer: No. After studying state estimation and control systems, I'm in no way surprised that there are this many lines of code in a system. I also am not scared of it. This is how I think about it: Bugs in control systems code are

I really like your idea, but it doesn't really look like something to hook up to my web app and accept payments.

I'm not sure where I stand on this, however, I'd like to provide one data point, one that I expect many HNers share. I'm primarily a web developer, though I do frequently work on Android projects or random hacking on some python projects (

I have the Fission ROM for the Droid X and it looks completely stock. You can get certain parts from Gingerbread, such as the status bar and Launcher ( the Launcher app is basically the home screen ), or you can stick with the stock ones f

I did support for a hospital a while back. The favored ( by faculty, not IT ) strategy there was a sticky note on the back of an ID badge. My guess would be that this is common practice anywhere where people carry ID badges.

Probably because sometimes you want to check libraries into your project. For custom jars, I'd immagine you'd want to specify their paths exactly, or something like (bin|build)/*.jar

To play a little devil's advocate, a lot of progress starts out with weapons. If we ever become a space-faring society, having more powerful weapons could possibly be a good thing. Space is big and we have no idea what's out there ( I'm n

I do too. My friends always want to go to 3d movies and are confused when I refuse to go. It takes me about 5 - 10 minutes to explain that while they're seeing 3d, I'm seeing a 2d movie tinted red.
