PTVS itself is open source so there's no worry there (our whole team does it's work as open source wherever it makes sense, and in this instance it would).

We don't have directly control over most of the Windows (they are controlled by VS Code itself). But feel free to file an issue at https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-python .

Would you (and others) be willing to have an extra 20 MB download to get better intellisense? We could potentially work with the PTVS team on better/faster intellisense, but it would require writing that code in .NET which would mean d

I'm implying that they can get the decimal module into Grumpy by implementing enough of Python to support the module (i.e. they don't need to implement the decimal module from scratch because the module isn't implemented only

The decimal module in Python 2.7 is implemented in pure Python: https://github.com/python/cpython/blob/2.7/Lib/decimal.py (in Python 3 there is an accelerated extension module that's used when

The ast module itself is in Python, but it imports the _ast module which is an extension module. This actually isn't that big of a deal, though, as the entire AST is defined in a DSL (see https://cpython-devguide.readthedocs

Is that still true? Some uvloop benchmarking has shown it to be equivalent to gevent when using streams: https://magic.io/blog/uvloop-blazing-fast-python-networking/ . Plus Python 3.6 has a bunch of optimizations

Actually Unladen Swallow's aim was simply to be fast. :) They attempted to do that through using LLVM's JIT but ran into a lot of bugs in LLVM and had to spend their time fixing rather than on Python itself. There was no specific

It wasn't a failure because they couldn't do it, they simply ran out of time as they only had a one year mandate and spent the majority of that time fixing bugs in LLVM's JIT.

It's a possibility. uvloop is written in Cython so it will depend on whether PyPy3 supports what uvloop uses through Cython: http://docs.cython.org/en/latest/src/userguide/pypy.html
