Well Google did also just pay $2.5B to license Windsurf in perpetuity. Cognition is probably spending a lot less than that for just whatever it left after that type of a deal. Remaining team members, etc.

This is a good articulation of what is a real concern around the AI bull thesis. If a calculator works great 99% of the time you could not use that calculator to build a bridge. Using AI for more than code generation is still very difficult

You're 100% right and in my opinion there is a much higher probability this is a total waste and nothing of similar value will be created. But if you're OpenAI and you have this option I also see why you may take it.

Appears from the outside as a very expensive aquihire but if you're getting the guy who essentially created the iPhone it could be worth it.

I think it is reasonable that Beijing will not allow any sort of sale just for posture purposes. They don't want to be see as forced by Washington to do something and they care less about private economic outcomes than we do here, at l

It's either this way or pass nothing ever. Unless the country tilts away from basically 50/50 with two parties that constantly try to undo the other there are few options to get anything through congress.

Agree with his assessment on passthrough. I think it's the #1 disappointment I've found with the Vision Pro. It's good, def better than other devices I've used but it's no where near as good as it has been described
