Exactly. The author cannot be bothered to decode such email addresses. If that is the case I probably did not want his email in the first place. Ipso facto, my filter worked.

For anyone who enjoyed reading this you may want to check out his (Lance Fortnow) blog (that he shares with Bill Gasarch). http://blog.computationalcomplexity.org/ I am not in TCS, but I do enjoy what bits and pieces are understandable to

Different strokes for different folks. You apparently don't like news about copyright law or big tech employers that hire tons of hackers. I do. On the other hand, I don't care about resetting my sleep cycle, exploding ipods, or rails an

I am certainly not ruling out a startup at some point. I was an early yc interviewee (and rejectee :-)) and afterwards just figured I'd enjoy my work for a while instead of worrying about the dollars and other minutiae. In reality, I'm ju

This book is a bit of a reference. If you want to learn from more entertaining books you should check out three books from another IU professor the Little Schemer, Seasoned Schemer, and when you want to move to logic programming the Reason

I wouldn't say that is an entirely accurate characterization. I don't know anyone in my department doing research that doesn't interest them. Students generally love the research they are doing and are probably a bit more autonomous than

That is an interesting form of lottery. Do you have any references to lotteries run in this manner (and proof that the tickets are not randomly generated)? I think the form of lottery I (and others) are referring to is the one where there

I think the most common model is that tickets are randomly generated and winners share the pot. Two winning tickets do not decrease one's odds from having a winning ticket since they are independent. Clearly it isn't a forest/trees issue,
