Not this in this use case, in fact quite the opposite. generally most want to have a knob they can adjust and not worry about the underlying value. It's in line with the philosophy of tweaking settings and not using your eyes to judge

Most plugins used in music software do take that approach. Where the plugin interfaces are modelled to look 'like hardware' in most cases, with nobs, sliders, all the things you'd expect on a hardware compressor / synth

Absolutely brilliant software. I use it absolutely constantly at work, brilliant UX and it fits into macOS so well. Have yet to find anything remotely close in terms of quality for screen capture / annotation / recording.

Apple have much stricter requirements, which is the point the person is making and you are willingly ignoring. Apple, right now, have the ability to ensure the apps are transparent about what they track, have an explicit dialogue to confirm

Not being able to be on the app store isn't an issue, it wouldn't put anyone off using it or downloading it. Majority of my apps arent from there, I imagine most long time users are the same.
