It's a late reply but national socialism only ran for a short time before being replaced with a wartime economy. In effect the program ran fine because it didn't run long enough for garbage collection to be an issue.

This happens at the micro level (one employee is swapped for another who is better) and at the macro level (banks/tesla) and at the country level (socialism is replaced by more efficient and humane capitalism as in ussr/GDR). The

Exactly. Microsoft was a monopoly, was it? Lamest monopoly ever seeing as they lost it in about ten years flat. Real monopolies are from government protected industries like taxicabs, which have been making monopoly profits for 50, 60, 7

Controlling the market would mean excluding competitors and capturing all the profits. Microsoft is a poor example of a monopoly as any long term shareholder will tell you, because they have little power in the market, a scant ten years o

Had a near lock on desktop operating systems. For a brief period of time. Which was quickly eroded by better, cheaper, more agile competition. If that is the definition of a monopoly you'd wonder why it is the bogey man. A monopo

Ugh, not this again. The only real monopolies are those which are protected by government regulation or control. Google is out there on the freewheeling internet competing. It has a broad portfolio of products, but their main revenue stre

You're right, and as the importance of the area of study and the research $ at stake, the worse the likely effect. The urge to censor not by written rule or by conspiracy, but just to protect self interest, is very strong. A system mu

I'm convinced the push for greater recyclability of vehicle parts is having a worse effect. A new VW is full of plastic parts which seem to have a ten year lifespan at best. Too many of these breaking render the vehicle uneconomic t

You're right that QE erodes the savings and income of not-rich people - the middle class and the poor. You're wrong in your theory that accumulated wealth does nothing. In a QE world, the very rich don't sit on cash - that w

Is the NPV of each of Hansom jobs worth $20k to the state? Hard to say. But once the factory is built, it will be there a long time. Even if the company Tesla fizzles and dies, a big battery plant will still be pumping out batteries for d

Capitalism still works fine, because it's not a designed system, it's not a central plan. In fact, countries like the USA should give it a try again. It worked quite well for them last time.
