OpenAI tech is fine. The real problem is overpromising. Is any other tech scrutinised like this. Next version of postgres aint giving me picosecond reads so Ill trash it. Maybe OK if postgres are claiming it is faster than speed of light pe

They might get another job. People dont think holistically about the economy. They think there are jobs. When they go there are that fewer jobs. Immigrants come in a steal jobs. Etc. But in an economy, each richer consumer creates more jobs

The thing here is programming the job can be much more dull than programming the hobby. Occasionally (twice a decade) there can be a collision where you get to do something really cool like that at work. The higher ups want a realistic sky

Seems like if McD needs this sort of labour its a weird business model. It can only deliver by paying people supported by their parents who are doing the work for pocket money or experience. And can only work outside of school hours and wil

Easy to PR, leaflet the 10000 people in tbe 10 towns (guessing population) and say "now you can use a phone and call people.... and it is free!!!!" Could be paid for by that chamber of commerce in the background. In turn paid for

Meaning the real value is in infra. Running local is super expensive as you need to provision 100% and there are high table stakes. So people will tend to use a cloud offering. If the model doesnt differentiate then its how you mix the mode

Something to become the VSCode of it all. A place you can go to work and tweak choices as you go but know roughly it will be the same in a years time. This isn't what the AI companies want. They dont want to be a commodity.

With the unlimited demand I can't see that strategy working. It is not like taxis where you may do a trip or two a day but if it cheap enough you'd do 100 a day. But with AI you would totally 100x.

In the article it shows that very rich owners can evade the tax (probably they've already planned and left!), while middle class people the tax wipes out their business and probably send them bankrupt. It's more like handcuffs tha

Nice fairytale. You could make similar stories and replace AI with "stimulant" "SCRUM" or "learning touch typing and emacs" There is a point in there for sure. But I'm yet to meet a Luddite IRL. It's

If you can get $15 a month it is worth finding the whales who can afford $150 or $1500 for more usage or features. Its worth picking up a phone to get them!

Semver is best effort. It may work but spacebar heating to change VIM mode (or whatever the XKCD joke was) may get lost in your minor update. But it is still useful. It's like a bloom filter. Most of the time you can happily pull minor

This works to a point. It would work well on a curated ecosystem. You could get to the point where one package with one version has everything you need. They are called SDKs. However for NPM you will hit issues where 2 packages need a diffe

You need X new users a month where X = 700 * churn rate. So if you churn 10% you need 70 new users a month to stabilise at 700. It's a hard goal BTW but might depend on how lucky you are. I.e. easy if you are lucky but hard for most.

Prisons are very expensive. Better off buying each person a luxury appartment than building a prison. We can spend a lot of money if we scare people and the bogey man is punished. Be it "criminal" "terrorist" "illeg
