This doesn't answer all of your questions, but it was the fastest way I found to get an Elixir app into production: https://github.com/boldpoker/edeliver It handles all the basic things I needed to get an app up a

I have a Nest thermostat as well, and I like it. I've wondered before if they just had that one good idea and that was it. When they announced the smoke detector my jaw dropped. It just seemed like such an awful idea. I had thought may

Two reasons come to mind: 1. People who just graduated from a 12 week bootcamp are not really practiced and skilled enough to be mentoring others, imo. 2. It sounds like a way to inflate the bootcamp's placement rates, which seems real

I don't really get how it would cause that to happen. Right now sites are being paid by advertisers. Under this scheme they're being paid by users. It doesn't say they're being paid more (or less), so I don't see wh

There are two really great additions to Elixir 1.2: multi-alias, and matching variables in map keys. Previously I found myself wanting to alias a lot of things, like: alias Foo.User alias Foo.Email alias Foo.Location Now

There's a group of tech volunteers working on apps to try to help out his campaign. I'm sure they would welcome any additional help from HN people.

The Github repo[1] says "This repository is currently offline". I've never seen this message on github before, I'm not really sure what it means. Github then refers me to the "working when Github goes down" art

If pain is measured in keystrokes, then yeah.. functional C# might be somewhat painful. If you haven't tried it you might consider using F#. It seems to have the best of both worlds. It's got a static type system with functional f
