That’s how it is in the defense biz. Just look at how they name fighter jets and missiles.

I don’t know why Palantir is always singled out as some sort of EvilCorp. There are plenty of companies in the defense sector but those aren’t usually considered “tech” so for some reason they’re out of the discussion. And besides, these US

My process is basically 1. Give it requirements 2. Tell it to ask me clarifying questions 3. When no more questions, ask it to explain the requirements back to me in a formal PRD 4. I criticize it 5. Tell it to come up with 2 alternative hi

After 15 years at Google he’s most likely at a point where he doesn’t have to work for a living anymore, and still afford a comfortable life for his family. I imagine that’s a big part of his happiness.

While I agree with the general idea, 2 minutes of looking at KSON was enough for me. If this is UI, it’s an ugly one. I’ll stick to JSON. When JSON isn’t enough it usually means the schema needs an update.

I think it’s been at least 5 years since I saw a main in the codebase. Now that I think of it I rarely even write a truly new class from scratch, usually you just implement/extend some framework-specific thing.

After trying out many languages at many places, I reached the conclusion that Java, as weird as it may be, is my favorite language. There were times I hated it, but turns out I really just hated messy, over-engineered legacy code and workin

Very cool. These days I’m building RAG over a large website, and when I look at the results being fed into the LLM, most of them are so silly it’s surprising the LLM even manages to extract something meaningful. Always makes me wonder if it

I remember watching an episode of one of my favorite shows on my parents’ brand new TV, and thought to myself something about this episode is off, like the production is cheap, the acting feels worse, even the dialog is bad. Over time I not

At some point you gotta wonder if there’s even a difference between “stops after N” and “never stops”. I mean obviously there is, it’s the same difference between N and infinity. But… is there really ?

You know I really don’t get it. I must be missing something obvious. Any “tool protocol” is really just a typed function interface. For decades, we’ve had dozens (hundreds? thousands?) of different formats/languages to describe those.

I find it extremely hard to believe that ASI will still require enormous investments in a post-ASI world. The initial investment? Likely. But there have to be more efficient ways to build intelligence, and ASI will figure it out. It did not

Even with Google Maps, we still need human drivers because current AI systems aren’t so great at driving and/or are too expensive to be widely adopted at this point. Once AI figures out driving too, what do we need the drivers for? And

Productivity really doesn’t need “solving”. The problem is procrastination. It’s quite ironic the amount of time people sink into these productivity methods and apps. Almost like it was yet another form of procrastination…

I often find myself pissed off that AI can’t properly do even the most trivial, menial coding work. And I have to spend more time guiding it than doing it myself. On the other hand I find it super useful for debugging. I can paste 500k toke

I’m sorry but how is that any of your business? If a company prefers small teams right now, at the cost of not having juniors to grow into seniors in the future, they are well within their rights to make that decision. Might be an awful dec

I imagine a future where the “high level” stuff in the environment is pre defined by a human (with or without assistance from AI), and then AI sort of fills in the blanks on the fly. So for example, a game designer might tell the AI the flo

Yep. I often choose LLM apps not because of how great the model is, but how snappy the UI feels. Similarly I might choose the more lightweight models because they’re faster.

Unfortunately this is true for basically any kind of “product”. It’s crazy how many people build something and make a website for it, only to hide the thing they’ve built somewhere deep in the website. Just show me the damn thing!

I’m far from being an experienced Pythonista, but one thing that really bugs me in Python (and other dynamic languages) is that when I accept an input of some type, like User, I have to wonder if it’s really a User. This is annoying through
