Not just that, GitHub's new Code of Conduct is pretty sketchy (e.g. racism is against the CoC but "reverse" racism isn't). The exact quote is: "We will not act on complaints regarding ‘Reverse’ -isms, including ‘rev

I doubt it, this blog post is 6 years old. Mozilla no longer have the same beliefs in this area, clearly. Just look at Pocket integration and the recent Yahoo! search engine change.

Please, you can critique something even if you lack the skills to fix it, or the desire to fix it, or the time to fix it. Also, you can point out that something is broken even if you have no suggestions on how to fix it.

Because other countries don't have spy organizations either? I mean, who can you really trust these days. Even non American companies could be compelled to hand over their private keys IF the NSA were doing such a thing.

That's a clear violation of GitHub's trademark so you'd almost certainly receive a C&D (GitHub legally has to protect their trademark or they could lose it).

You clearly don't operate a site that is controversial. I don't either, but I have a friend who operates a small forum with ~2000 users, and that's enough for him to be harassed using info from WHOIS. Sure, there are privacy

Did you read the post, specifically the benefits section? Or the Google page they linked: https://www.cloudflare.com/google It sounds like they now have a peering agreement so Google can directly communicate with CloudFlare

This title is clickbait and hyperbolic. It's not even a half built game, it's pre-alpha, in development, "early access". Almost everyone who pledged money should know that. Fans who donated $77M did so to support the dev

I think you're wrong. GPL is designed specifically for FOSS programmers who work only on FOSS projects. Legally, it's a restrictive license that limits options for developers who develop for a day job (for a company that keeps the

I disagree about point A. GitHub as a whole is proprietary, but they have an exceptionally well designed API that can be used to export issues, pull requests, and wiki data. I setup a cron to backup this data weekly in case of a catastrophi

Both IMO. Patches + mailing list isn't an ideal medium for code changes, and it's not as easy to quickly browse a list of patches that haven't been merged yet. GitHub lets you update patches easily (and see the updated patch)

I don't think either engine is well suited for an MMO to be honest. You are probably better off looking at something like the HeroEngine. Unreal Engine's built in networking systems are suitable for 64 players, maybe 128 tops. It&

It's not as clear cut. You can use C# with Unreal Engine if you prefer, and Unreal Engine offers a lot that Unity doesn't (e.g. Blueprints). I recommend everyone interested in the two try both. I personally prefer Unreal Engine, b

Contrary to popular belief, Condé Nast no longer owns Reddit. Since 2012, Reddit operates as an independent company (Advanced Publications, the parent company of Condé Nast is a majority share holder though). See: http://www.redd

The app may not be great, but it's pretty good, especially for the vast majority of users. From Google's perspective, I doubt it makes sense to add features that many of their users don't need and won't use.

I went to a Hackathon at the GoInstant offices recently and got to give this a try. I'm pretty impressed, I was able to get a collaborative app put together and working with multiple users without even setting up a server backend. I di
