Uhhh, this spacecraft is for a totally different application. Planet Labs doves are in LEO for low earth observation. This Japanese one is a weather satellite to monitor the area around Japan.

How does 100k flights a day equal 2.4 millions hours of operation if each flight was on average 1 hour?

I think many of the 'greatest scientific minds' got mediocre grades because they were so smart that school bored them. They did not find them challenging enough so that didn't have the motivation to participate in class. The

They still make those same gas-powered RC copters. The ones you have are designed to be slower, low powered electrics.

That is pretty unreasonable. Are 2-ton trucks and cars dangerous on the open road? Are they 99.9999% reliable?

Not really, with enough money, you can buy jigs and milling kits that make it as easy for you as possible to complete upper receivers: http://www.cncguns.com/tooling.html

I guess if you're a kid living in Palo Alto, you are living in an environment where everyone and everyone's parents are high achievers and that is what is expected of you. In order to get admitted to the best colleges, everyone is

So when you said "It's a myth that poor people drive." You really mean "It's a myth that poor people drive in heavily populated cities.", in that case, you would be correct lol.

Yes, but they are more or less considered a novelty than an actual efficient means of transportation. Most of the time, horses are not allowed on roads.

Jokes on you. My account cannot downvote people yet. See, that's the thing with Hacker News. A lot of people here think Silicon Valley is the center of the world and everywhere is just like us, when the fact, we are living in a little

Europe is very different from the US. People will drive 1-2 hours to get to work, which is not really done as much in Europe.

Except it will never be cheaper than public transportation. If public transportation is available, they will take public transportation. If public transportation is not available, neither will be driverless taxis.

Public transportation is not cheap and/or available in many places in the world. Look at all the cheap beater cars (even in the US), those aren't going driverless anytime soon.

I don't think having to pay for a human bus driver is the primary obstacle preventing us from having cheap and efficient public transportation.

Come to think of it. Imagine driving a car yourself on a road full of self-driving cars. You would be able to drive as fast as you like and cut off anybody without ever being afriad of retaliation. Self-driving cars will always let you in b

Funny analogy but it doesn't quite work here. Driverless cars are still cars. They both still use the same roads and infrastructure.

Yes but normally these missile and bombs are all isolated to these remote areas. Imagine the rocket is launched from Florida, it might need to fly over populated areas to reach its 'land' landing area, which is different.

You cannot keep a stationary drone in the sky for long stretches of time. Their field of view is also going to be massively smaller than a satellite. You would need a lot of them just to keep the same amount of coverage. How do you know nob

I think it would also be beneficial to get better shots of your products. It shouldn't be too expensive to get a decent DSLR, macro lens, flash and a lightbox. It will make a world a difference in the pictures you are getting.
