Boo, this is unnecessarily negative. Here's some cool things that are happening in entrepreneurial space. First, SpaceX is using its reusable launch capacity combined with the StarLink constellation to dramatically lower launch costs o

Yeah, there's alot of niche programs that can provide nice amounts of seed space capital without being a billionaire, it's just they are fairly in the weeds and a bit hidden.

It looks like this is a boiled down subset of linear algebra sufficient for deep learning? Is that a correct assessment?

Actually technically Bells Theorem says you can’t have hidden variables if you want to retain _locality_. If you allow nonlocality Bells Theorem still allows hidden variables.

I'm actually a YIMBY but I don't consider the Queens backlash against the Amazon's HQ2 NIMBYism. Instead its a valid argument against why Amazon should get billions in subsidies to essentially gentrify Queens -- what will the

Really sad to hear this. He was one of the early financial supporters of Scaled Composites in their successful bid for the X-Prize, as well as a great supporter of the Allen Telescope Array for both astrophysics and SETI applications. Alway

The breaks were anywhere from one month to a year. I never had the next job lined up before hand. All my work with non-profits involved doing open source in collaboration with them as a consultant. It was great :)

I've been in the industry nearly 20 years and I always take breaks between jobs. I've worked for startups, Google, Dropbox, non-profits, etc. Between jobs I've pursued personal growth, traveled extensively, re-tooled my CS sk

We aren't using Docker today; we have jailing infrastructure using linux cgroups, namespaces, seclist, etc.

Good to have a gVisor developer on here. At Dropbox one way we use secure containers is to run machine learning models. Do you know if TensorFlow works in a gVisor container? How is GPU support in the container? If running on a CPU, are BLA

I really wish we still had ARPA rather than DARPA. I'm blown away by the ambition of the projects DARPA does but it's hard for me to rationalize directly working on things that might end up in killing systems. Is there anything ak
