You do not pay for an EC2 instance that is stopped. If the instance has attached EBS volumes you will continue to pay for the storage costs, but that is pretty minimal. It is important to remember that a stopped instanced is not guaranteed

Thanks for the reply. You are right that movies don't have to be expensive, but I do believe to get the kind of revenue that the big studios want, the studios believe the movies need the big name actors, the explosions and special effects,

His point is how he explained REST to someone with out a technical background. It just so happened that that person was his wife. If it was his dad instead, would there be any issue? https://gist.github.com/1525252

In this case the $300 was for 2 (maybe 3?) people. Not to say one person couldn't have done the work on their own, though.

As Amazon increases the number of regions, I really hope they make it easier to work across regions. Not being able to migrate AMI's or replicate RDS db's across regions is really a pain.

I am constantly frustrated when I try to find transactions more than 3 months old in both my bank accounts. The main reason I keep my Mint account is to be able to search my old transactions.

It isn't really clear cut. Is there a difference in selling a firearm and selling a printer that can print firearms?

I believe ffmpeg has been able to decode ProRes 422 for a while now. It is ProRes 4444 that there hasn't been any decoding available for. It looks like this adds support for it.
