Perhaps because a lower percentage of women are inherently interested in technology than men? Why is this never considered?? Is it because the author is often biased since they are usually female? It almost seems like she assumes that becau

I posted this yesterday on the Inc thread but it got lost in a sea of comments so I'm reposting it here (with modifications for context): I think passion is generally stupid for a couple reasons. First off, we use it as a defense mechanism.

I have been having a discussion with some friends of mine about this topic and I was actually going to write a blog post about it, but now I would just look like a tool if I did so. I'll just summarize what I was going to say here. I think

You mean Facebook, the company that has had a pretty rough PR year thanks to its deceptive privacy policies and practices?

There's more to this "strategy" than a browser. Don't forget they have a huge suite of tools for authoring web content, for instance.

> they (Microsoft) don't realize that they're no longer the ones defining where technology goes Actually, this is a really good point. In 1985 Microsoft was Facebook and Microsoft continued to be Facebook-y 'till, what, 2002?

I'm not a Rubyist, but 37signals' (clickable: http://37signals.com/ ) new design is really great to me. It's clean and extremely functional.

Okay guys, I've got to come out with something here. I'm kind of a lurker on HN so I don't really say much...but I need to say something before I continue with my comment here: I really love Microsoft products. The (fledgling) start up I'm

First off let me say that I'm pumped that there is movement in the Portland startup scene. Even though I am not very well plugged in to the local scene (if you are a Portlander raise your hand and I'll buy you a beer), as a Portlander, this

I love this design. It really resonates with me! The whole thing feels a bit like a slide deck which I like. If you scroll correctly you get a nice bit of information per "slide" but you don't actually click through a silly slide deck. One
