Better yet, if they are checked in, rotate them and don't check in the new keys. Make them an environment variable instead.

The "ceremony" you're talking about has nothing to do with the language itself and everything to do with the community. You can write Java and not use the factory pattern, you know. Hell, Scala is one INSANELY complicated l

Other incubator. It failed in early 2012, a little over a year after it was founded and probably 6 months too late. I'm now working at one of the other startups from my batch, and things are going great. It was really tough to pull the

Was mostly with the author right up until he shows an example of the worst possible unit test. Testing the implementation and not the intent. This feels like how Spring must have been born. Trying to think of an alternative, and I think I w

This is truly awesome. I have been wanting this semanticto supplement my queues for a long time and was dressing adopting an operationally more complicated tool like Kafka, not to mention all the effort that would be needed to port code.

This article is really bad. The arguments against ZK are completely subjective. The pros for Doozer are "it works" which is hardly an evaluation. The features in the pros for etcd are all present in ZK.

Ansible is great, but I've just burned an entire day (well, half a day) fighting bugs in it after doing a pip install --upgrade. So IMHO: The model is sound but it's still really unstable.

Somewhat off topic, but this article perfectly shows how difficult taking full advantage of a multi-core environment truly is, and how lacking a lot of our tools are. Granted, this is an extreme example.

The whole HN password thing is sketchy, but I'm not super tied to my account so I went ahead and tried to register. It's telling me that my HN account doesn't exist, though. What's up with that??

Call me picky but the language in the titles of these types of articles indicates to me that the authors don't really understand investing. Thalmic didn't "get" $14.5mil as if they were chosen by some lottery or via some contest. They raise

I find OSX is a very powerful Unix with a very usable window manager. I spend almost all my time in iTerm anyway. Plus the machines themselves are the best damn laptops I've ever used.

I totally agree that packaging and dependency management is Go's weak spot, and I've experienced similar issues. That said, I wouldn't blame this on golang per-se. I have run in to the same issues in Ruby, although versioning is a bit bet

Not sure on the bankrupt you one. I've seen it happen a lot, but I'd you have runway (which you should) and it gets short, that is probably a signal that you should realistically assess your position.

This describes what I'm seeing as well. If you've got a good team with a good product and a good chance of becoming a business, it doesn't seem to be any more difficult than normal to find the appropriate level of financing.
