IMO the best way to move to the next generation of dependencies is through tooling. Instead of ignoring node_modules in source control, why don't we commit it and allow the tooling to handle upgrades? Disclaimer: I haven't thought

When you understand basic information theory you know this is impossible. In gifs you have a separate "color map" that stores at most 256 colors. So by modifying the LSB of each color you get at most 256 bits aka 32 bytes.

Upvoting to see what other Android devs think of this kind of system. The builder and parcelable stuff is cool, but I'm not sure if I'd include another dependency just for that. --- EDIT Actually what does this offer that Kotlin d

Looks like this wasn't built in response to the recent NPM drama but sounds like a perfect alternative. IPFS providing the ability for permanent, signed content makes this great.

By native mobile I mean writing Java/objc using the mobile SDKs versus something like Cordova or phonegap. Though I have written C++ for The Sims 3 on iOS.

Looking right now at work in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Sounds like I'll need to make a move to London if I really want to earn the big salary. I work primarily in native mobile. I'm working for Amazon right now and I've worked fo

Is it just me or does this sound oddly familiar to machine learning recommendation systems? ie: show an item based on the average of all the other items that everyone else has looked at.

We use a very similar system at Amazon. Our code review tool creates a diff and uploads it to a server. Once uploaded you publish the diff and wait for someone to approve it. Our team squashes and rebases before pushing to master but I know

Brilliant post. This explains exactly why some T shirts I buy fit great in the chest after buying and are shorter and wider after one wash.

Brilliant post. This sums up exactly how I feel about TDD. TDD done right teaches you how to write decoupled and reusable code. The problem is that the majority of people who attempt TDD have been told it's a good thing but can't
