Like, oh you need to install this extremely heavy tool on your server... but yeah it's still client-only, trust me?

Is this basically a 16-chapter (plus a few appendixes) code review?!?

Just tried it... and it says it's client-only, but when I try to run the SSH provider using my Rapberry Pi it says it needs `docker` to be installed on it :/. So it's not just client-only, is it?

Forcing developers to handle errors properly is a difficult thing to do in any language. Their solution to use JavaScript kind of surprised me: yes, `exit()` is not something common in JS, but if the code to send email threw an exception (i

It bothers me that this is from Sweden, a most inclusive country, while being pretentiously exclusive. I live in Sweden and wouldn’t mind going to a small conference on my holidays, but unfortunately I can’t find the “charming town” where t

That's such a shame. I bought quite a few IKEA devices as they were the cheapest in the market and were Zigbee-driven, which meant I could use it with my custom-made SmartHome software (which does what Home Assistant does but without a

What a miserable world people commenting here seem to live in where going out to dance is a sort of status challenging activity?! When I was younger and frequented dance floors, everyone immediately started dancing as soon as the music star

I like Zig but it seems to just keep redesigning itself, while other languages like Odin “shipped” long ago and don’t seem to need to look back. Is Zig suffering from perfectionism syndrome where things are never good enough??

Completely agree after trying it. Anything that may throw an Exception requires GC. There goes 80% of D code you could use. The rest becomes inaccessible for other, similar reasons quite often. Try writing D with @nogc and it takes 10 minut

That only works for the MCPs your app knows about, which is not that great. The usefulness of a plugin system like MCP is that an app can automatically use it. But MCPs are literally just a function, with some metadata about what it does an

You’re right. It’s unclear, however, how your application will handle knowing when to call a tool/MCP. That’s the part where LLMs are so good at: understanding that to do a certain job, this or that tool would be useful, and then knowi

Slack was never an innovator. By the time they showed up there were lots of chats apps. They just managed to go beyond the others by basically embedding a browser engine into their app at a time most thought of that as heresy, I mean a chat

People creating products need to do what gives results right now. And I can attest that breaking up jobs into small steps seems to work better for most scenarios. When that becomes unnecessary, creating products that are useful will become

You’re just confused. You can write a tool , or if your framework supports it, the tool can be also a MCP. But llm cares only about tools. Try to learn the underlying mechanics and you will understand the difference.

You just described how to write a tool the LLM can use. Not MCP!! MCP is basically a tool that runs in a server so can be written in any programming language. Which is also its problem: now each MCP tool requires its own server with all the

Most people in the West seem to believe the removal of democratically elected, pro-Russia President Viktor Yanukovych in Ukraine after a popular uprising in 2014 was somehow democratic. That should show that depending on who is being ousted

It used to be widely seen as such. See for example Stallmanns latest post where he mentions that. Coder was not the same as programmer, it was the lesser half of the job. Nowadays the term has lost its original meaning.
