Sorry but you are just using source control very wrong if you keep 2 parallel environments in the exact same code base but different branches. The build itself should know whether to build for one environment or another!

That’s just not true. Rust has a wonderful type system and it can encode mutability, which is a must for anything performance oriented. That is a benefit that FP misses out on. You can still analyze Rust programs with a great deal of assura

Very interesting rebuttal. I must say I was almost as convinced by the original post! This just made me think: if we can’t agree even on relatively simple topics like this, what hope is there that we will ever agree on most important issues

> that being said C++ being a big language Rust has become fairly big now, no? Is there some objective metric that can show Rust is a "smaller" language (I bet it is, but I don't think it's by a lot)?

This kind of generalization is so old. Imagine someone told you that "I've noticed that people of race A are noticeably better than people of race B". If you think it's different, just consider that people don't rea

Shame that the writer didn’t tie up the initial story about waiting to be a musician without knowing anything about that with the end of the story. Also, 2010 was just yesterday my young friend :)

Well the real open source project is llama.cpp which Ollama basically wrapped and made a nice interface on top of. Now they do more things as they want to be a real business, but llama.cpp is now doing most things people wanted from somethi

I really like Gleam. But if you want a job, that’s probably the worst choice ever. The language is just a few years old and lack libraries for mostly everything. Why are people recommending that here, do you guys work using Gleam?? Let’s be

Hi I am a Java developer! Every company I ever worked at since 2008 used Java. At one point I learned many languages but still the only one that could get me a job was Java. To each their own bubble.

I remember being able to change the color of every window frame, button, selector, scroll bars, and so on. For a time most people had their windows using bright colors with zero regards for good design, they just liked colors.

You Guys haven’t used Java since the 90’s right? Boxed types convert to primitive values automatically, you never need an explicit cast! What horrible duality are you talking about?

What are you criticizing exactly? You can have primitive integers in Java records or classes just fine. If you have many you can use an int[] like in C, no one forces you to use generic containers.

I imagine it’s like storing JVM bytecode, ie class files instead of Java files. So when you open it up the editor decompiles it , like IntelliJ does if you try to open a class file, but then it also applies your own style, like from .editor

You really rely on grep on CI? How fragile is that ?! This is a good argument for storing non-text. Grepping code is laughably unreliable. The only way to write things like that reliably is by actually parsing the code and working in its AS
