I prefer to be remote. I find having my own space is less distracting but if I need to get up and walk away from my computer for a bit because I'm stuck - that also works better. I can be more flexible with my time if I have other thin

What about other people that don't drive, pedestrians, cyclists, etc. They are also paying the cost of increased road traffic deaths, except they are no part in the cause.

I'm not sure how much that matters? Apple still have to abide by EU legislation to sell their products there.

Your certs only last 7 days and IIRC you can only deploy 3 apps if you don't pay the 99$/year though.

I'm not sure that's true? Maybe it depends on the location but LHR is asphalt, CDG is asphalt, AMS is asphalt, YYZ is asphalt... Only when you look at hotter climates do concrete runways appear common.

I'm not even a terribly serious hoobyist but I still pay for Adobe's photography (Lightroom + Photoshop) plan. I still haven't had much luck finding another option that works well for organising a photo library.

Hah, apparently I missed that when I looked a little while ago. That's a very pleasant surprise. Looks like PCIe, SATA, USB and Ethernet all sit behind it.

Wow, I totally forgot about Opera Mini. I remember using the J2ME version on a not-smart phone, I guess over 10 years ago now. It worked pretty well.

Apple's App Store still shows a list of in-app purchases, not sure about the Microsoft Store.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a successful open hardware project for a portable music player. Rockbox, a low power SoC, some decent DAC, a basic display - epaper would be kind of neat - and preferably a standard battery - someth

As I mentioned elsewhere, you can get supplements but at least in BC you need to speak to a pharmacist to get them, though no prescription is required.

This was a surprise to me when I had a panel of blood tests and my ferritin was very low, but haemoglobin was normal A few weeks on iron supplements did lead to a notable improvement day-to-day and reduced fatigue. I always find it surprisi

Sorry, I was thinking of modules in response to > C++ requires you to duplicate signatures in header files, which that alone requires a good degree of boilerplate.

I guess modules help this a little right? I haven’t used them for anything non-trivial so perhaps I’m overly optimistic.

Im guessing you run your own mail server more for fun? It’s the one service I use frequently but I’ve never tried to self host - its always seemed like a lot of pain.

Telus won’t even do static addresses and IPv6. Either you get IPv6 or you can pay for static IPv4. You can’t even have static IPv4 and IPv6 enabled.

Doesn’t that have the same issues as IPv4 split horizon DNS? Cached DNS resolutions on a client would persist if you disconnected from the LAN - I guess you can set the TTL to be very low but I’m not sure what the right balance is there.

I was curious to see what the solutions are for some of these - Ruckus for example has Ansible modules [0] but they just SSH in and change the config. [0] - https://github.com/commscope-ruckus/RUCKUS_ICX_Ansible

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple's ARM MacBooks get there first. A lot of hardware works already, and it seems like there has been a lot of progress on the GPU too.

ARM has the same. Apple's CPUs are interesting as they lose most register state on WFI, though there is a chicken bit to disable that behaviour - it's mentioned in one of the Asahi Linux blog posts [0] [0] - https://asa
