I'm sorry, but I don't think the argument holds water. Why is the US special here? The easiest counterexamples are Oxford and Cambridge in the UK. Neither have 'legacy' admissions.

I’ve never really been satisfied by how either Windows or macOS handle window tiling - and so having multiple monitors has been easier to make work. It also gives me the option of having one screen for one device, and one screen for another

My personal laptop is an M1 MacBook Pro 13”, the device I use most frequently for work is a Surface Pro X. I really appreciate having a small, relatively lightweight device that I can easily carry without worrying about it. I don’t really f

Isn’t that basically the plan Apple had, and scrapped, to scan for CSAM on device?

I do wonder what the capabilities of GCHQ are today - I guess it’ll be interesting to see in 50 years or whenever it is assuming it gets declassified…

It's interesting how opinions differ. I would have said that I quite like Grandview, though probably prefer Tenorite. I really dislike how thin the strokes in Skeena are on the top of the e or a for example.

Almost nothing has to use IO ports. Things like PCI config space accesses can still be done over IO ports though.

I work at Microsoft but have no inside knowledge. Presumably that wasn’t a consideration at the time? I suspect it is today, since games released for Xbox One can also be purchased on Series S/X…

It is really my only complaint about it, and since I needed a new laptop at the time it still made sense. I would definitely rather one of the 14” ones now - but not enough to buy a new device.

The schematics are available [0]. It looks to me like the MCU is doing some sideband control, but the DisplayPort signal itself is passed through unmodified. [0] https://github.com/OSCARAdapter/OSCAR

Well except for some of the Apple Silicon machines. The M1 (and maybe M2?) only have two video output blocks, of which one is already used for the internal display. It’s honestly the biggest complaint I have about my M1 MBP. Yes DisplayLink

Full disclosure - I do work at Microsoft on Windows. One of the work devices I have is a Surface Pro X - and it has been generally a good experience. I don’t really write code on the device (I work on Hyper-V), but for browsing, Office, Rem

The article also mentions environmental damage to nearby wetlands and a fire starting in a state park. Whilst immediate risk to life may have been low, the damage to the natural environment is very real.

Another factor (also mentioned in the article) is dynamic frequency scaling. Is a core at 100% when it's running at it's running 'flat-out' at its nominal frequency or when it has boosted? The boost clock generally depen

It’s not a car tunnel, it’s a train tunnel. There are trains that carry cars but there were ferries before that. Yes you can drive a U.K. car in France and vice versa, but I doubt anyone wants that experience at home.

Back when I was in school, in the U.K., my password contained a ‘£’. This was fine for logging into Windows or Outlook etc, however the printers required you enter your password and only had a US keyboard layout - so that was fun.
