Umass. The student center/hotel is all concrete. A cool brutalist structure from one angle, but it feels a little inhumane on the inside. My favorite part is the grad lounge/bar with no windows and blood red concrete walls.

AI is not a baby. That is an anthropomorphism. It is a very large field of mostly unrelated algorithms. Of which, one is getting all the attention at the moment. Y’all need to go back to school. I’m so tired.

Cool product. Not clear what sort of classification models are being used - if they're statistical/classical, deep learning, or zero shot LLMs. Video demo shows 'Product classifier', 'Intent classifier', '

Browse some ranked lists (series and OVAs) over at MyAnimeList.net. Tons of good stuff out there. Though, things were better in the old days. No arguing that.

None, I use search engines with booleans when I want to find something. LLMs might provide useful citations at the end of a 'search' but there's too much hallucination in the summaries in my personal experience

The Dishonored games were great. At least they wrapped up the story before they got canned. Wonderful painterly art style and imaginative gameplay.

Regarding Apple specifically, no, I don't believe they have the fabs to support that scale. Bing chat says Apple themselves manufactures the M2 chip but it must be hallucinating, I strongly doubt they have <5nm manufacturing capabil

Typical Vonnegut. I sincerely mean this, may he rest in peace. The man was haunted.

It was also adapted into a (terrible) full length feature film with Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee). If you like Vonnegut, you might like it.

China invades Taiwan and goes anywhere near the island’s TSMC fabs, you can bet the stock will be affected. They might have fabs in the rest of the world but my impression was it is still a pretty fragile chain

Kind of like a distance/similarity metric for words, but not an embedding. Joint probability. I once used it to automatically group words into multiword tokens. The wiki page is informative. But wouldn't know what they were using.

I was a fan of LDA but would not agree that it is 'probably useful' today. It's an unsupervised clustering algorithm based on Gibbs sampling. Like k-means, it's gonna return a few buckets that will have to be reviewed by
