I had a hard time with those filters. "Linux Admin" could have been about three top-level filters, yet I wasn't able to find it in any. Why does everyone forget about us? :(

Sometimes they flat out just ask, though. When I interviewed at google, they asked me my college GPA. After telling them I left college before getting a degree, they just repeated the same question. Silliness.

They're the ones who inspired me to start these projects and seek funding, actually. Half of that inspiration comes from a huge amount of annoyance in the ineffectiveness of most of their work, though. It's all very feel-good in t

Never thought of that, honestly - I'll look into it. I've had surprising amount of folk ask in seriousness why I'm trying to take money away from the budget starved city, though.. That mindset might push back. Still worth a s

I'm actively working on data-based civics projects that should hopefully have positive individual financial impact - particularly for lower income households. It's very fulfilling work that perhaps comes close in addressing locali

Autocompleting is by far my biggest pet peeve in modern IDEs. With default settings in Jupyter, for example, typing """ immediately creates another """. Another great one is when autocomplete tries to be vindi

At the last place I did sysadmin work, this was basically how I functioned. Just about everything was done to prevent having to use google, stackoverflow, etc. It was absolutely amazing in terms of learning and gaining confidence in the t

Ugh, man. Ever hear of the principle of charity? I'm just offering my thoughts on why /I/ was thrown off by it with mild suggestions. The number of upvotes I got seems to indicate that others agree with me, so maybe, just may

Bit extreme, don't you think? What gives you the impression I'm hiding in a basement waiting for success? There are other routes, you know.

The heuristics comment was more of a reflection of what I've seen outside of YC - at workplaces, gatherings, etc. It is what it is. What makes you think it's a problem with social awkwardness. There's nothing awkward about it

I think it's a mindset problem on both ends. But - agreed that my mindset is shallow on the subject. Maybe from a lack of exposure or maybe from something else. Really, all I'd like to see is some sort of other avenue through YC
