I thought I was in 2... till I actually got a 120Hz screen. Since I flip between my desktop at 120Hz and Macbook Air M1 at 60Hz frequently I discovered I really notice. Its always so much nicer when I leave the Air. Everything is so much sm

Unrelated to article but thanks for publicising the work on PEF. It’s one of those papers and codebases I scan though every now and then attempting to understand it better. I’ll get there one day and hopefully be able to reimplement it myse

I have been meaning to add a hashcash style calculation on searchcode for ages to make the bots a bit less painful. I did add it to another search I run to stop spam and that was very effective.

Not really. Chips are mostly factory overclocked these days. They dump in all that power to get the coveted #1 spot in the review charts. Turn on eco mode and you get 99% of the performance at a much nicer power limit. Just pretend it’s 201

The values come from the result of many hash functions. I actually need them sorted as well hence they are added to an array, and deduplicated. I had a look and didn’t see any obvious way to eliminate them hence the initial function, and th

I'm not sure how they actually go about doing that though. Unless of course you enter your key and decrypt client side, which I suspect the majority of users won't like. There is nothing stopping this from being implemented in Act

I highly recommend this software if its capabilities fall into what you need. It is very fast both in terms of indexing speed and search. It’s relatively simple to setup and start working against, and I have found it very reliable. It works
