Yea ok. I do agree with that. I like to say that the US used to have "the marketplace of ideas" as a goal, but has now become "the cesspool of ideas", which isn't a good thing. I don't know what the solution to

The same value as finely parsing whether you are the same person as Stalin or whatever. You are viewing your enemy not as a bunch of flawed or even mentally ill people, but as some movie villain or even not-reall-humans. This is a problem.

A good point. You can for sure accidentally do good things by being deluded and having conviction and power. One could also say that they have a small delusion (god) that gives them a bigger truth (being nice to people is good). So like the

He spends a long time dismantling objections I've heard creationists use to this day. I've often wondered if the creationist influencers who came up with these "objections" actually read On the Origin of Species. The mec

You should read On the Origin of Species. He handled all your objections there. Spoiler warning: Darwin didn't really have any problems with the eye. That's just something creationists say.

Is slander not a thing where you live? It is here... No, I didn't actually say that. But I tried to point out that lying and screaming insults is bad. Which you counter by lying and screaming insults...

> BEING nazi/bigot/transphobic/etc is what ATTRACTED every bigot and self admitted Nazi to the Republicans If that's the case, you have already lost anyway. Because if that's true you have so many nazis in the US

It's a timing issue too. Your hand can be travelling to the keyboard and between that and registering in the OS the AI suggestion inserted itself inbetween.

Oh, didn't know about that. That makes a lot of sense. Reminds me of how hitting cmd+c on a line in PyCharm copies the entire line if there is no selection. Because what else would make sense?

In fact it covers it 100%. Examples: Manslaughter is when you kill someone without conviction and/or delusion. You can hit someone without the conviction that you need to kill them and they fall really badly and die. Murder. You can hi

Hitler cared about the outcome a lot. That's why he killed so many people. So your analysis has a pretty big flaw there.

A lot of people think that. Just a tiiiiny problem: the hijackers didn't think that. They were jihadis.

Not really. If you're open about it you don't have to hint at it and never say it openly. You know, actually being open about it. Also, neo-nazis. Not nazis. Nazis were a very real political group. Some are even still alive. None

Human eyes are a lot bigger. It's much easier to have a shadow in a thing that is a few centimeters big, than it is in something half a millimeter deep.

I would make a stronger claim: ignorance + power + conviction is exactly equal to evil. Mao killed tens of million of his own people because of his misconceptions about farming, economics, and ecology. Hitler killed millions because of his

I tried CoPilot a while and my biggest gripe was tab for accepting the suggestion. I very often got a ton of AI garbage when I was just trying to indent some code. Tab just doesn't seem like the proper interface for something like this

Imo: get the problem back is a small price to pay to learn the lesson again. If you didn't write it down the first time, remove the tradition and next time write it down. Now you do the right thing AND for the right reason.

Honestly I prefer this. The alternative is what we see in politics and big corps: 1. tragedy happens 2. "leader" adds some checks to avoid the problem 3. the check literally will not stop the problem 4. everything sucks And it

I only write SQL for complex grouping operations, otherwise the Django ORM is superior. And in those situations, the ordering is really not very relevant, and thus changes can occur anywhere.

This doesn't seem like it's much of an argument. Injecting `d, g` on the `b` place in your example will work fine. Trailing comma or no.
