100% unknown. That's always the problem with science and why political control and direction always backfires and is stupid.

Yea, I mean.. the point isn't the price imo. We can build out nuclear and sequester CO2 without it being super cheap. We can do massive projects like that anyway.

Calling Germanys nuclear "extensive" is laughable. Do compare it to France.

I think that is a pretty unrealistic scenario though. Nuclear won't get that cheap.

You can just look at the total emissions from France and compare with Germany. It's quite amazing the difference. https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/co-emissions-per-capita?c... Imagine having HALF the CO2 emissio

Not really. Imagine a world where Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria scaled up nuclear power in the 70s. In that situation Putin wouldn't have had any money for his army in the first place. You hav

It is though. Climate change due to fossil fuel use is not a risk, it's a guaranteed disaster. If you have to choose between a risk and certain disaster, you never choose the guaranteed disaster, yet that is what the anti-nuclear movem

I've read (most of) the Book of Mormon, and the Bible. I'm working through the Quran right now. The Book of Mormon is unfortunately easily falsifiable. You just need to do some genetic sequencing of native americans and see that t

"Cancer-causing generators". Yea, like all cars for example. I hate political framing like this, it makes this 100% valid criticism look stupid. Stop making the good guys look stupid.

Seveneves is extremely harsh against at least some humans I'd say. The Expanse has the slogan "you had paradise, and you paved it" repeated a few times.

The line reorder issue is evergreen and it seems all languages need to either go through this phase and fix it, or gaslight its users forever that it's "not really a problem".

Tim Cook failing on the Cook doctrine ("We believe that we need to own and control the primary technologies behind the products that we make") is ironic.

The Chrome tool where you can edit CSS inside the inspect panel and it writes it to the CSS file is amazing and I really miss that in Safari.

That is very good news! I've used Swift a bunch for hobby projects, and the two things that suck about it are: 1. XCode 2. Compile times I would assume if you're coming from C++ or Rust the compile time issues aren't really s

Sure. And that longer and older terror was the lack of free markets and science. Exactly the thing the kids these days want to remove because "what did the romans ever do for us?".

If you believe all that, which I assume the woman in the car did, why did she push the gas pedal? If the ICE agents wanted to shoot someone as you say, doesn't that logically also imply that the woman in the car wanted to be shot at? T

As a person who always identifies as an outsider to literally every group, I cringe all the time when I see all the own goals all groups make and then I cringe again when they double down.

The in-progress community notes are a shit show too. I saw the video and saw someone trying to avoid the ICE agent, but also being EXTREMELY reckless about driving a huge SUV close to people with guns. Everyone is at fault here imo.
