As someone who just encountered Pandas for the first time as part of an Intro to Data Visualization course a few weeks ago, I am now very curious about Polars. The professor doesn't actually care which tool we use as long as we produce

Interacting with LLMs like Copilot has been most interesting for me when I treat it like a rubber duck. I will have a conversation with the agent. I will present it with a context, an observed behavior, and a question... often tinged with f

The article has a photo of a plaque putting Baird's death in 1946, less than 40 years old. What happened?

Mm. Part of GW's modern success is that roughly a decade ago they decided to push third parties to create a ton of Warhammer-branded experiences. There's even a Warhammer movie in the works, if I remember right. That would never h

I'm curious about what it would take to build my own "toy" search engine with its own index. Anyone ever tried this?

Any health care organization - from your list, pharmacies and urgent care - that is profit-driven is not holding health as top priority. If an organization that should be focused on making people healthy is instead focused on how many curre

Non-profit organizations generally don't focus on profits, but they are usually classified as "businesses." I suppose this is a matter of definitions. What do you define as a "business?"

Can someone give me some examples of private equity firms that aren't driven purely by avarice? I have a bet going with a colleague.

Thank you! I play with the styles every so often, just to experiment. The body typeface is Griffos, by Manfred Klein. You can read a bit about Manfred here: https://luc.devroye.org/klein.html

Very cool. The one thing that prevents me from trying this out as a potential note-taking daily driver is the lack of support for LaTeX. I recently switched from Obsidian to Zettlr due to some rendering and performance issues on Linux, and

I have a "forever project" written in TS and Svelte that uses vite, eslint, prettier, and Node.js. I love playing with new things. What would be the fastest new combo? TS+Svelte+deno? Is there something that replaces vite?

Keep your AI slop out of my human-crafted adventures, please. If you want an LLM-created text adventure, by all means, go and enjoy that yourself. I want no part of it.

Ah, but that isn't complete lack of stimulation. It's just minimization of external stimulation! That said, I agree with you.

In order to avoid all stimulation, there is but one recourse, and it is rather final. Generally, I prefer just sitting quietly and not worrying about the definition of stimulation or whether I'm doing it correctly.
