When the first MacBooks came out with a Secure Enclave, Keychain was just unworkable slow. You had to type your search query elsewhere and then paste it in, or you’d be looking at a beachball for minutes. Took them a major OS X release befo

That’s fine by me. In my 10 years of experience writing in a language that I like and I think I know rather well, I cannot share your view that “async/await is easy”. The happy path is easy, but you’ll hit show-stopping issues when you

This is a great throwback reminder of all the dirty mice I’ve cleaned. Having all that lint unevenly stuck to the rollers made the tracking of the mouse uneven. I hated it so much my default behaviour when sitting down at a computer was to

With APFS this is not as straightforward though, as containers are only allocated when written too.

No system will get support for unicode by just the passing of time. Software needs to be upgraded/replaced for that to happen. Reluctant institutions will not just do that, and need external pressure.

By 4K (1080) I meant that a 4K screen has a typical resolution of 3840x2160, which gives you at 2x scale factor an equivalent screen estate as a 1920x1080. That's too little screen estate for me. The screen you referenced would be even

4k (1080) is just way too small for me. I don’t see that many 5k or 6k options for a reasonable price. What is a nice setup for a developer? Go with 2x4k screens and you’re looking at bezels dead ahead, 3x4k and you’ll have to move your hea

This very issue has been bugging me for years on different MBP models. I dread contacting support for getting a similar treatment.

Multi-user support would be very welcome on a device selling for 3500 USD. I find it rather user-hostile that iPads don’t have this option either, but even their flagship device? Come on.

This proposes that The Netherlands switch to WEST/UTC. There is already no clear consensus on whether to stay on permanent summertime (+2) vs wintertime (+1), and I would expect the switch to UTC to be even more challenging to adopt. I

This is mostly why I have stopped reporting bugs. A good bug report takes a lot of effort to write. Seeing it automatically closed after a few months due to lack of interest is a waste of my precious time.
