I'm on a Mac, almost always Photoshop but I recently bought Pixelmator. Not sure if I can use it for production work yet but I wanted to support their effort if nothing else. PNGpong widget to compress PNGs Illustrator for vector stuff

Certainly! I find myself shilling this book all the time. It's a great starting point for people dipping their toes in the design pool because it tells you just enough to improve simple stuff without being preachy or over-complicating thing

I've had mixed reactions when I mention it, but back then (2002ish) they paid my broke college-self infinitely better, and were doing stuff that was so far ahead of the "mainstream" clients wanting $200 all-flash sites. I really regret not

Just wanted to chime in that Dune & Foundation are excellent (and my personal favorite) sci-fi series. I really enjoyed Ringworld by Larry Niven as well.And of course, the Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy in 5 parts :)
