Years ago Google used to have a feature of blacklisting sites from your results. Go figure, they removed it. I made the switch to kagi because there was so much ai slop and stack overflow copy sites in my Google results. Sometimes I would h

I wish the author would dive into that even a little bit. It looks like COVID killed the performance. Why? And what about post COVID?

If this isn't compliant than neither are name day calendars or baby name websites. It's not a privacy issue if it's just "someone's" name.

You don't even need to be a member. Just walk in, show your driver's license, pay $20 or so and walk out with your international drivers permit.

Wow me too. This was very confusing and annoying as my wife's cheap dock would take down the network while we were both working from home. It took several annoying incidents before we connected the incidents to the dock.

I've seen the putty.org site. It's about the most friendly it could be to putting putty at top and disclaiming association. The reporter was an unbearable asshole. They were not reporting but pushing and agenda through questions.

I like your friend's rule. If a guy literally runs every day, through stress fractures, flu, winter snow, thunderstorms, etc, I'm going to cut him a break on an international flight and continue to celebrate his streak with him.

I'll underscore your awe by reminding you those solar masses disappeared in only 1 tenth of a second - the length of the gravitational wave signal.

I can't see how this could be true. Many people will need to drive the ev to work during the day, and if you discharge it at night then when are you really charging? It may be true for some who WFH often or in some cases, but not enoug

I can tell you stopped reading halfway through or you would have said the first third is about dogs, second third about sidewalks, and the last third is about bikes. And the conclusion is about a falafel.

Clickbait headline. The mistake was a configuration issue in alerts that didn't matter at all that he spotted right away but intended to fix later. Even the second mistake by the electrical contractor didn't result in any damages

Financial markets are fueled by growth. Growth in real terms (not merely inflation) requires increases in GDP which requires real output by people at it's core. I'd be worried about expected financial growth of any retirement fund

The gem of a point here is that a solid set of core services can go a very long way. You don't need to emulate beanstalk, sagemaker, lightsail, appsync and the like. What you need is CloudFront, vpc, ec2, albs, RDS, S3, ecs, and other b

The author makes the assertion that the mpg targets are easier and it's implied it's because the number is lower. I'd like to see that assertion actually supported with evidence. Making a heavier car, with higher ground clear

What a wild ride just a few comments in. Now we know why "Reddit users" are banned from the company. I may just be another rando internet zombie but reading that thread made me feel so alive!

One underappreciated aspect is, if you are a U.S. citizen you are required to pay taxes on your worldwide income. So, in the EU, I file two tax returns. One to the country I live in, and one to the US. In practice there's a tax treaty

No, smaller delays <1s are also a misdesign here. Have we all forgotten we're reacting to typos? It's an error condition. It's ok that the user feels it and is inconvenienced. They did something wrong. Do some think that 9

You can set a "max work time" before it pauses so it wont go for days endlessly spending your credits. By default its set to 10 credits. So I'm not sure how the author got it to go for days.
