To be honest, it's quite likely that someone who applies is already paying $20/month and would save them for 6 months, so the extra shock is only $60. And it's quite easy to set up a calendar event to remember to unsubscribe.

You're buying a service, and the service is getting rid of goods.

The original comment says "sell them to «resale» companies". Selling goods means being paid for it, while you and the parent comment are both saying money goes in the opposite direction.

ZMM registers are separate from the 8 FPU registers. That's because the ZMM set is separate from MM registers. So there's 8 more. In hardware, however, renaming resources are shared between ST/MM registers and the eight Kn ma

Fun fact, that obviously you already know but may be interesting to others. In the encoding the registers are ordered AX, CX, DX, BX to match the order of the 8080 registers AF, BC (which the Z80 uses as count register for the DJNZ instruct

Yes, two in fact. One is the same prefix (with subtle differences of course, it's x86) that was introduced for AVX512's 32 registers. The other is new and it's a two byte extension (0xd6 0x??) of the REX prefix (0x40-0x4f). T

Isn't it how recent Wine runs 32-bit programs?

In 1999 I used Modula-2 for my first computer science/programming languages exam at university. The environment was a bit like Turbo Pascal 3.0, though with a more complete language (TP3 had no modules/units) and library, comparab

I do something similar with build trees, naming them +build, +cross-arm etc. This convention was suggested by the GNU Arch version control system years ago (maybe 20??), but it's really useful for the same tab completion reason and I h

That only works if you are sure to have a 64-bit result. If you can have divisor < multiplier and need to detect overflow, it's more complicated.

I think so, "whatever you boast it's not overstating" -> cannot be overstated.

How so? A guitar doesn't go past a few kHz (the highest string is IIRC 660 Hz, and the top fret is 660*4) and AM long wave radio—which is almost dead—starts around 120 kHz.

As someone who did assembly coding on the 8086/286/386 in the 90s, the xH and xL registers were quite useful to write efficient code. Maybe 64-bit mode should have gotten rid of them completely though, rather than only when REX.W=

To be honest, validating bibliographies does not cost valuable time. Every research group will have their own bibtex file to which every paper the group ever cited is added. Typically when you add it you get the info from another paper or c

Yes, I wish this was this simple. :) There are many other complications: * Some instructions require VEX.L or VEX.W to be 0 or 1, and some encodings result in completely different instructions if you change VEX.L. * Different bits of the EV

Sort of, at least some degree of relativism exists though how much is debated. Would you ever talk about sea having the same color as wine? But that's exactly what Homer called it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W

The rules were there to explain what optimizations remained possible. Here no optimization is possible at the compiler level, and only the processor retains freedom because we know it won't use it. It is nasty, but it's very simil

There is a yolo way that actually works, which would be to change it to a relaxed load followed by an acquire signal fence.

The professor whose student worked on this problem is a network theorist. He's never done string theory and has no need to "rebrand as machine learning expert". So yeah I don't buy it either.

And why would that be a reason to attack people who don't care at all about the physics, but acknowledge that the mathematical ideas they use originated in string theory? Should they omit that just because the physics side of string th

Yes determinism is not the best word. What I mean is that if you force the LLM to output "carr+o" even when it prefers "carro", this could result in worse quality output.

The first paper they link to is not about string theory. It's using math that was developed for string theory , and is perfectly valid outside it, to make predictions that can be (and are) experimentally validated. It has exactly none

You can split your work in multiple commits and at the same time drop/squash debugging or wip changes. The result allows you to go into much better detail than a PR description.
