Microsoft's API churn must be disconcerting for developers trying to figure out what to standardize on going forward. This is yet another API for writing Windows apps. WPF? Silverlight? HTML5? I would always have a fear that something else

You never have to reboot for an update? If you do, than it's little different from Windows' auto-update, which downloads and installs in the background. Also, Chrome OS is based on Gentoo, and I doubt Gentoo will never need an update again.
