Yes, this is similar. In Rust you control yourself the allocation on the stack or the heap. So before reaching out to a memory pool/arena, it's too tempting trying to put everything on the stack for "maximum performance"

It is slow for me on both Linux and Windows on very recent hardware. It takes seconds to open. Moving around and resizing drawings lags pretty badly. With that said, Inkscape is a really good software.

Yes, it has limits. And unsafe let you C++ your way out of it. At least, little code requires unsafe and thar makes it easier to audit.

But what when you have some threads slacking off, and others too busy? It would be nice in this case to use those idle threads, even if it means a little bit of CPU cache trashing. And I believe this is what Tokio offers with a work stealin

Rust doesn't protect you against deadlock. I wonder if it is similar to the halting problem. Can deadlocks even be prevented in theory?

Unrelated to the topic. But at first the blog only contained an introduction, no content. But because others have been commenting, clearly I was missing something. I reopened the page few times. And at some point; some JavaScript I suppose?

Probably because you have an expensive enough car, that actually does a good job at regulating the cabine temperature. In my cheap pickup I have to constantly adjust temperature and fan speed. In my old German "ultimate driving machine

I have a 20y old BMW with the idrive knob. I find it excellent. This is because the knob contains a motor to simulate various detent and other virtual stops. So you actually have a really fine tactile feedback. You can navigate menus withou

Because you are playing with the clutch, it keeps you busy. And the total time it takes to shift feels shorter this way. CVT are by definition using the best RPM possible from the engine for maximum power and efficiency. Modern automatics a

My comparison is driving in the US is mostly stateless and context free. While in Europe, you must know from context what type of road you are on, and also remember the current state you should be from the signs you saw earlier. I find driv
