Check out EXI. It compresses the xml stream into a binary encoding and is quite small and fast: https://www.w3.org/TR/exi/

I just leaned about EXI as it's being used on a project I work on. It's quite amazingly fast and small! It is a binary representation of the xml stream. It can compress quite small if you have an xmlschema to go with your xml.

Me too! It's been so much nicer not having scrum and moving jira tickets around. We still have an issue tracker but it doesn't rules our lives.

There were a few chips that supported directly executing JVM bytecodes. I'm not sure why it didn't take off, but I think it is generally more performant to JIT compile hotspots to native code. https://en.wikipedia.org&

I just got back from a short vacation on Amtrack. It was my first sleeper car experience -- I slept poorly, but the dining was not too bad. Much better than airplane food and with an excellent view of the fall foliage.

The recent Synology update removed Video Station and HEIC support from Photo Station. I'm annoyed that they can arbitrarily remove consumer focused functionality in an update like that. There has been quite a bit of grumbling in

I also find the nix command line annoying. I'll give this a try. I like the embedded `#help` documentation!

I remember seeing a single file "build.java" from Cliff Click a while ago. I wonder if he's still using that technique. It took a while to find an example: https://github.com/edwardw/high-scale-java-lib&

No one is saying it's a hard requirement. It's a recommendation to understand how difficult raising a creature that depends upon you for everything is.

Not to be snide, but if you can't afford to raise a puppy, you probably can't afford to raise children.

Cool, a headless netbeans LSP server is great. It was a while ago but I failed to get the Eclipse based LSP client to work smoothly in neovim.

Ditto for me as well. I like having lunch with my wife at home during the week and I like picking up my kids from school and hearing about their day. I can't do these things on the days I'm back in the office.

Ah good memories! I was a big fan of Ion window managers when I discovered them in school back around 99 or 2000. I gave up tabbed tiling window managers at some point, but I was so happy with Ion back. His experiences on receiving bug re

I also like the Synology UI. It is helpful to see multiple apps at the same time and is especially useful when moving files around to have two or more file browser windows open.

Me also. I was there at the birth of E4X as a fresh out of college kid writing test cases for the language. There are some warts in the language but it is still much easier to use E4X than the DOM.
