I've recently been learning Ada and have found it to be a great language. I got into it because I'm interested in avionics and healthcare systems. I really hope it will get a renaissance like, for example, Erlang.

We are developing an add on for the Raspberry Pi (tujasdr.com) and I spent some time looking at alternatives particularly because the Rbpi lacks OpenGL 3 support, which would have been nice. There are a lot of boards with stronger hardware

I'm always amazed how diverse the people on HN are. Not everyone is an IT professional but we share a passion for technology.

I've noticed a lot of health anxiety in this thread. I'd like to recommend "Overcoming Health Anxiety" by Davis Veale and Rob Willson, for anyone who feels they worry excessively about their health.

The "classical" I,II,III leads are balanced. aVR,aVL,aVF are derived from I,II,III (through voltage dividers). V1-6 are singled ended with a common "ground" lead.

Seems like these operations are common in all kinds of convolution with a filter kernel...

The medical journal is one of, if not the most, important inventions of modern medicine. I'm an MD and work with them every day. But yes, the current infrastructure is not good.

As an MD I'm not sure why anyone would take medical advice from a medical student. They think they know everything but lack clinical (practical) experience. It's a bit like a developer saying he knows C++ after reading "Teach

First ship was built 1924 so it's almost 100 years old tech by now. Still cool though.

Our job is often an important part of our identity. I'm a doctor but work part time in electrical engineering. I'd be hard pressed to leave medicine completely and I suspect it's much because "I'm a doctor".

While not exactly good news it's a huge relief it doesn't appear malignant. I have worked as an anesthesiologist in neurosurgery and these patients generally make a full recovery.

I had a Dell XPS 13 i7 with Ubuntu pre installed that I sent back within a day because of lack of support for qhd display and horrible electrical "coil whining".

I also just bought a Dell XPS 13 to replace my MacBook 13. I returned it after a day. I can confirm that a) the scaling doesn't work well at all yet, and b) absolutely awful "coil whine".
