Short version: The guys from Quplo - http://quplo.com/ - added code completion to CodeMirror (javascript in browser editor). We made it context aware and improved the (x)html handling a bit. Here's the code: https://github.com/webpop/csc

You need a high level of traffic before you can really start drawing any statistically meaningful conclusions from A/B testing. People don't magically start showing up just because you publish a landing page, so some assumptions are necessa

Honestly, as a customer I'm getting tired of having to install apps for everything I use, I'm getting tired of something not having the app on my Droid because it's only for iPhone and so on... I think the HTML5/JS approach still has a way

Most important change seems to be the switch from a canvas based renderer to a DOM based renderer. From what I've seen ACE feels a lot faster than Bespin did. I've been wondering if it would be possible to build a WYSIWYG HTML editor on top

Using GET to submit a shopping cart can be "idempotent", but it is not "safe" since it changes state on the server. GET should always be both safe and idempotent.

A good trick we've been using while building http://www.webpop.com has been to use the cheap small instances on the Rackspace cloud to build a mini version of a nice distributed setup with load balancers, web servers, database servers, mo

At http://www.webpop.com we're using JSON Schema as the way to define custom content types behind the scenes. This in combination with MongoDB works really well for us. When a user sets up a custom content type, he's actually setting up a

Some numbers to back this up. We run http://www.domestika.org - the largest spanish-speaking community for designers with some. There we have around 19% using IE and the rest on Firefox, Safari and Chrome. If you assume that at least some

If it was a purely functional interaction, shouldn't the same request always get the same response? In reality a lot of non-pure IO stuff tend to be the main part of what goes on in-between the request and the response in most web-apps...

We use Nagios combined with Ganglia for webpop.com as well and it's a great solution. But if we weren't on a tight budget (we're bootstrapped) I would have gone with something like CloudKick no doubt. The server for Nagios might be cheap, b

Rackspace has a solid email hosting for businesses. Part of their sales-pitch is "Ad-free and Privacy Guaranteed," but eventually it always comes down to a question of trust.
