Agreed. I think Silicon Valley has an unhealthy culture of driving folks towards taking un-necessary risk. We glorify "hustling" non-stop, and overlook how destructive that advice can be to individuals

Because both companies believe that owning proprietary self-driving systems will be a big competitive advantage. If one company beats the other to mainstream adoption by 12-18 months they'll have a shot at dominating the industry.

I think this is mostly correct, but I see it a bit differently. This initial wave of speculation is slowly building up network utility. Use cases like micro-transactions or Web payments become more and more viable as the network size grows.

I'm not the OP, but I'd argue that Reddit's voting system discourages a diversity of opinions within a given thread or sub-reddit. Although moderators discourage the practice, most Redditors down-vote opinions they disagree w

While entertaining, No Agenda is far too conspiracy-theory laden to be taken seriously. They frequently talk about "chemtrails" and mock scientists who believe in climate change. Not too far off from Alex Jones.

Disney does offer a VIP service. It's $400-600 an hour though. I'm not certain what the maximum group size is, I think 6-8: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/vip-tour-serv...

I'd argue Javascript has largely 'un-broken' the Web. It transformed it from a static, pageload-based medium to something far more dynamic.

I think it's incorrect to lump the internet together as one medium. The messages that propagate over Reddit are different from those that propagate over Hacker News, which are different from Facebook. Why draw a distinction? Because th

I agree that Google and Alibaba pouring on hundreds of millions adds credibility. But my skepticism is more banal: I've never seen a successful technology startup built this way. Startups need to be nimble. When you raise 1.4 billion f

Not sure what this solves. I'm a huge proponent of Bitcoin/Blockchain, but how is this a better solution than say, one centralized national database? Blockchains are useful in situations where centralized trust can't be estab

These are all entirely fair points. I agree ThinkPads offer better value for the money in terms of hardware. But I care a lot more about the OS and the software I use than the relative price value of the hardware I'm using. OS X is a f

Carbonvote is an informal vote. It has no consequence in reality. That's why there was such a low voting rate. As of now, the amount of ether you hold doesn't increase your ability to affect a fork. That's entirely controlled

Typically a VC fund does not re-invest profits back into other startups — the profits are disbursed to LPs VC funds tend to dislike small exits: they're not enough to return the fund and they can't re-invest the capital.
