I don't think the airline industry is a great example from an IT perspective, but I agree with regard to the aircraft.

Margins are typically not so razor thin that you cannot operate with technology from one generation ago. 15 vs 17 mpg is going to add up over time, but for a taxi company it's probably not a lethal situation to be in.

My approach to safety at the moment is to mostly lean on alignment of the base model. At some point I hope we realize that the effectiveness of an agent is roughly proportional to how much damage it could cause. I currently apply the same

What would stop us from using something like LTspice to validate the circuit before risking physical components? This seems ~identical to the situation where we can use a compiler or parser to return syntax errors to the agent in a feedback

Appropriate feedback is critical for good long horizon performance. The direction of feedback doesn't necessarily have to be from autonomous tools back to the LLM. It can also flow from tools to humans who then iterate the prompt /

CNNs and LLMs are fundamentally different architectures. LLMs do not operate on images directly. They need to be transformed into something that can ultimately be fed in as tokens. The ability to produce a confidence figure isn't poss

How exactly are we asking for the confidence level? If you give the model the image and a prior prediction, what can it tell you? Asking for it to produce a 1-10 figure in the same token stream as the actual task seems like a flawed strat

The best way to store information depends on how you intend to use (query) it. The query itself represents information. If you can anticipate 100% of the ways in which you intend to query the information (no surprises), I'd argue there

These do not address the concern of fault current handling. This is a much more localized and severe condition than frequency deviation. Think about dropping a literal crowbar across the output of a solar inverter. This is a situation the g

Tool calling + recursion seems to be the answer. Two tools are for manipulating the logical call stack - call/return. The trick is to not permit use of any meaningful tools at the root of recursion, but to always make their description

I think a basic overview of game theory should also discuss Pareto optimality to some extent. You can have 100% of participants operating in a locally-ideal way while still creating problems in aggregate.
